The origination of early prototypes of state associations in the terrains of Ukraine has been studied in the research. For this purpose the process of consolidation of tribal unions as an important force for their self-organisation has been traced. The data proving the existence of highly developed Trypillya civilization in the territory of Ukraine that enabled the scientists at the end of XIX – the beginning of XX century to outline and further develop the new trend in the study of the ethnic genesis of Ukrainian people, and make a conclusion about the autochthonic origin of the Podniprovija population, to launch the idea of the progressive development of Ukrainian people from the times of Trypillya culture . The syncronicity of the ethnic genesis and the consolidation of local (autochthonic) tribes’ and alien ethnos into tribal unions as early forms of statehood has been proved. However, due to outer influences the intensiveness of the above mentioned processes in the Right-bank Polissya was different to that in the Ukrainian forest-steppe, as well as in steppe and the Black Sea steppe. Continuity of the development of ethnos in Ukrainian territories and their interplay has been demonstrated. At the same time it is noted that these processes were going along y with the beginning of proto-ethnic mapping of the modern Europe. The main directions of pre-Ukrainian tribes’ migration are marked out, and the causes of obstruction to expansion and development of the pre-Ukrainian proto-statehood have been identified. Taking into account the importance of archaeological, anthropological, ethnological and other scientific data in the 1st place it is determined that tribal consolidation of pre-Ukrainians into the first prototype forms of statehood using solely scientific methods is traceable only from the middle of II millenium BC which is considered to be the beginning of the moulding of the Slavonic race. The attention has been focused on formation of the statehood by the pre-Ukrainian population in Volyn, Verkhnye Podnistrovja and the upper terrains of Zakhidnyj Buh prior to the formation of the core of the Rus state, and the potent role of the Middle Podniprovja in this process has been pointed out.
